We will have a short, informal presentation and discussion of touchpoints (also known as applications) during the first half of class. The second half will consist of individual meetings to review the final version of your logos and applications. You may present these to me as you see fit, just be sure it's complete and refined. Friday we will have a presentation and examples of various touchpoints to get you revved up and going for this section.

Requirements For Wed October 15

Individual meeting: paper presentation supplement due.
For clarification, this needs to be a paper presentation of your brand thus far including the following: (you've created most of this already)
• Mission
• Essence
• Vision
• Process (sketches to final on logo. Show your progression)
• Colors (Primary and Secondary Schemes)
• Type Family (Logotype family, Primary and Text/Bodycopy Type Families)
• 5-6 Trial Applications refined based on feedback you were given during our CLASS meeting
• Final version of sound
• Final version of motion
Everything should be printed and bound except sound and motion, these can be emailed. I gave some thought to the "process book" I discussed with some of you, and, given your workload, decided that if these are printed and bound with wire-o or something similar, this will suffice.

We will work on refining and fleshing out our brand in studio on Wednesday, and I will complete the individual meetings, as well as help anyone who needs further direction. There will be a final keynote presentation on Friday. This presentation should present your brand thus far. Keep in mind, we've seen a lot of what you've done thus far, so make it interesting to the audience. Revisit the presentation techniques we discussed earlier in the semester.

All of these should be printed and presented

Requirements For Fri Oct 10

Important Note:
There has been a good deal of leniency thus far in class. This will be the last instance of it. All projects will be due on time, and complete, regardless of circumstance from here forward. Notification of issues must be received no later than 24 hours prior to a project due date, and will be discussed, however if expectations and deadlines are not met, there will be academic consequences. This is not open for discussion. Thanks for your hard work thus far, and as always, I'm looking forward to what you come up with.

Group keynote presentation:
You will be presenting and justifying the following in Keynote:

* Review your mission and vision
* Logo
* Logotype
* Signature (logo and logotype together)
* Motion application (this can be done in flash, or whatever you're most comfortable with. It must move! Keep it simple.)
* Sound (think nbc chime)

5-6 trial applications relevant to your industry. These should be based on your brand brief and timeline you supplied.

A Few KEY-notes (I kill me)

A few notes regarding Keynote and your presentation on Friday.
******YOUR PRESENTATION MUST BE SENT IN KEYNOTE FORMAT, PDFS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ******

1. I will need your presentations by 12 a.m. on Friday (as in the night before the actual presentation) So I can get them set up and ready to go for Friday morning.
2. Please send along any fonts you will be using with the presentation. If you're not terribly tech-savvy, ask a classmate for help or email me by Thursday at 5pm and I will assist you.
3. You will be presenting from my Macbook. Because of the room set up, you will be standing in the back of the room while you present. This will also allow you to take advantage of Keynote's presenter's notes feature. Let me know today if you need help setting this up.
4. We will start promptly at 11:30 on Friday.

A few things to keep in mind:
• You're designers, the presentation should be designed
• If something in your presentation is visually distracting, it should be intentionally so
• Um, er, uh means you're not confident in what you're presenting
• Speak loudly, but not obnoxiously

I'll let you know the order of the presentation on Friday. It won't be the same as last time nor will it be alphabetical.
That's all.

Looking forward to you work.

Presentation for Friday Sept 12

Please email your presentations to me at mel2669 at g mail dot com prior to tomorrows class. Given the technical difficulties I've encountered in the past, also come prepared with your presentation on a usb flash drive as well. We will present from my MacBook (if all goes well. Nicolette, have yours in hand) I have determined the order of the presentations. I will call on you individually when it is your turn. Items of note are below:

Presentation length: 10-15 minutes per presentation
Discussion Length: 5 minutes per presentation

Questions to think about when we discuss:
• Do you understand the industry your classmate has identified
• Were the audits clear and concise
• Does your classmate appear to have a strong grasp of what they are communicating and attempting accomplish with their brand

Obviously 5 minutes will not be a great deal of time to touch on these, but we'll give it a go.

I will keep time to ensure everyone has ample time. This timing assumes that some presentations will be shorter. Should we not get to everyones from a discussion standpoint, I will discuss your presentation with you either Friday or by Monday.

Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with!

Present Like Steve Jobs

Keynote

There seems to be a bit of confusion as to what your Keynote should contain. It should be an overview of the following items from the book:

• Understanding the business (p.82)
• Market research (p. 84)
• Marketing audit (p. 86)
• Competitive audit (p. 88)
• Stakeholder audit (Audience Audit in your case) (p. 90)
• Language audit (p. 92)

You can use this as an outline for your Keynote if you'd like.

Clarification

Your Keynote presentations should contain both visual and verbal representations of the research you've done up to this point, as well as the information contained in the notes from the lecture. Also, I'd like to see more of your research on your blogs, so I can have an idea of where you're going. Take a look at Curtis' blog here: http://cpickell.blogspot.com/ to see what I'm referring to. (Curtis said I could single him out, just so you know)

Posts

You've all been added to the blog as authors. I'd like you to feel free to post any items you find relevant to the class and class discussions here.

The initial post

Hello all,
I will add you all as authors to this blog by Friday. I am going to discuss the process for process blogs with Jamie to ensure I have a clear grasp on how to go about it, and then we'll get moving on that as well.
It was great meeting you all today (yesterday?) and I'm truly looking forward to beginning this journey with you.
